Return Authorization

Foreign citizens can request this document when they are in the period of renewal or extension of their stay authorizations and, therefore, do not yet have their new foreigner ID card (TIE), but have the need to leave Spain and return.

Who can request it?

Those who prove that they have started the renewal or extension procedures of their residence or stay authorization can request the return authorization.

How long can I leave for and for what reasons?

The return authorization is granted for a maximum period of 90 consecutive days to leave Spain and return for exceptional reasons. The officials in charge of issuing it may request supporting documentation for the reason of the trip.
