Validation And Homologation Of Foreign Studies In Spain
When we want the Spanish authorities to recognize a degree obtained abroad, first of all, it is necessary to distinguish between two concepts:
- The homologation of foreign degrees certifies an equivalence with the degrees of the current Spanish education system.
- The validation of foreign studies for Spanish courses (non-university education) certifies their equivalence to continue studying in a Spanish educational center.
Degrees or courses must meet the following requirements for homologation or validation:
- Courses and degrees obtained abroad must be officially valid in the educational system of their country of origin.
- They must be equivalent enough with the corresponding Spanish courses or degrees, both at the academic level and in terms of duration and content.
- The foreign studies must be fully completed in the educational system of their country of origin.
Studies that can be validated/homologated
- Compulsory Secondary Education (Educación Secundaria Obligatoria)
- Non-compulsory Secondary Education (Bachillerato)
- Vocational Education (Formación Profesional)
- Professional artistic education
- – Higher artistic education
- – Sports education
